The infamous potting table (continued)
Plot spoiler: the potting table did in fact make it safely to Chestnut Hill via East Hampton (although it only made it as far as the garage in EH, not the basement as I had planned). When I arrived home from Brimfield back in September, my husband Chris had to call a friend to come over and unload the potting table. He was SLIGHTLY (or maybe seriously?) cross as he questioned how I planned to get the potting table AND an antique oversized mirror that I had recently bought at an online auction to Philadelphia this fall after we got the house. I admitted I had not thought through that part. I had already started feeling some buyers remorse about the potting table. I don’t have a green thumb, I don’t like to garden, in fact, I kind of hate it… so why on earth did I need a potting table? Alas, I had been nipped by the nervited energy of an early morning at Brimfield and also influenced by Laura’s desire for it (brings to mind the tenth commandement: “though shalt not covet they neighbor’s goods” LOL). Fast forward six months and Chris and I have moved into the Gatehouse (our 1925 home was originally the Gatehouse to a grand estate up the hill behind us) and our baby boy has arrived. Chris had to rent a U-Haul in November to lug my Brimfield haul down to Philadelphia, and the potting table has since been laying in our basement, unassembled. It was a gray day today, but when the sun decided to peep out midday, my Mom, who was here helping with the baby, suggested we could work on setting it up. It turns out that it fits quite nicely tucked underneath the deck. Although Spring seems to be eluding us, it should be here soon and perhaps my chic, little potting station will inspire me to start some doing some potting. If anything, I hope it inspires me in my plans to participate in The One Room Challenge. I am planning to begin decorating our back hallway this week in conjunction with the #oneroomchallenge and I definitely will need to fill that sun soaked area with some greenery, so I will be grateful to have this gem to work from. Stay tuned for my first post on The One Room Challenge this week!
