Week 1 One Room Challenge : A Garden Foyer

This week I began scheming for my first project for the Spring 2022 One Room Challenge! I’m so excited to participate in this event. I’ve been gathering inspiration at a high level so that I am sure I have a vision for the vibe I want to create. The room I am working on is a long foyer off of my back deck. Even though it is off of the back deck, its actually the entryway most frequently used by guests and us, so I want to create a welcoming, chic space. The room has beautiful light since it is lined entirely with windows along one side. This will lend itself to being the home for some fresh greenery and houseplants. Bringing the outdoors in is such a wonderful way to make a space feel alive. The terracotta floors lend themselves to a Sister Parish garden room atmosphere. The foyer also acts as a hallway extension between our den which is part of the original 1925 structure and a large entertaining room which was an addition from about 20 years ago. As you can see in the photos the room features Wissahickon schist stones which are part of the original exterior of the house. This week I’m sharing with you photos of what the space currently looks like, along with my concept board which will be my guiding light as I select colors, fabrics, artwork and, of course, plants! My concept includes a few images from some of my favorites: Oscar de la Renta, Miles Redd, and Amanda Brooks. I haven’t narrowed down fabrics and colors, but you can expect some blue and white, wicker, painted furniture, botanical prints and topiaries. Stay tuned!
